All of our teachers at The Bridge Way School are PA certified in their content areas. In addition, many of our staff have knowledge of and experience in drug and alcohol prevention, treatment and/or recovery.

Rebecca Bonner, M.Ed and MUPP. Head of School. Rebecca has nearly 15 years of experience in educational institutions at the secondary and collegiate levels. As Head of School, Rebecca is responsible for the development of the academic program, staff supervision, and program outreach. In addition to serving as Head of School, Rebecca teaches English and social studies. Peter McGovern, MA. Clinical Director and Guidance Counselor. Pete has over 14 years of experience in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) counseling, including lead staff for one of the region’s foremost intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adolescent treatment. As Clinical Director, Pete coordinates the transition from treatment to recovery plan, facilitates individual/group/family therapy, and provides college and career counseling. Susan Josephs, M.Ed. Learning Support Specialist. Susan has over a decade of experience assessing and addressing the learning differences of secondary and college-level aged students and is a PA-certified Reading Specialist. As Learning Support Specialist, Susan collaborates with relevant personnel as students transition from treatment to our school, and interprets academic assessments to provide appropriate accommodations and learning strategies to our students. Mindy Flexer, M.Ed. Art Teacher. Mindy is an artist and art teacher who has over fifteen years of experience teaching art to students in public and private schools as well as in her studio. After being a professional studio potter for many years, she became a representational oil painter. She participates in open air (outdoor landscape painting) festivals locally and nationally, and can often be found painting outside on location in Philadelphia. BA Music, Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music; BFA Ceramics, The University of the Arts; Master of Education, Tyler School of Art at Temple University.

Tom Hank, BM. Music Teacher. Tom has six years of experience teaching at a Philadelphia charter school. His students learned how to write their own music, perform in concerts, and discover ways to support their community. Tom enjoys playing trumpet, piano, and guitar as well as other instruments and continues to perform at college and community venues. He is currently completing his Masters of Music Education degree at Westchester University. BM, Westchester University.

Carolyn Stuetz, MS. Physical Education and Health. Carolyn has nearly 20 years of experience teaching and coaching. She integrates PE and health into all aspects of the curriculum by offering an inventive and hands-on approach to her students. Included in the sports she coaches and referees are soccer, field hockey and lacrosse. Victoria Guidi, Special Education Coordinator.  Victoria has seven years of experience working in the field.  She began her career teaching special education classes in the South Bronx, and she most recently coordinated Special Education Services at the American School in San Salvador, El Salvador. Victoria’s primary responsibilities at Bridge Way include monitoring, implementing, and updating IEPs of students sent to Bridge Way from area school districts; modifying curriculum as needed; and working with our teaching staff and students on individual learning plans.  Victoria loves to sail and is the Program Director at the Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory, an after-school maritime education organization whose mission is to engage the city’s youth through hands-on, experiential programming inspired by the heritage of the sea.  BA Lilberal Studies (focus in Creative Writing, New York Univeristy; Master of Special Education, Mercy College, New York.
